Rooster Valance

A friend of mine is doing her kitchen up in roosters. She came across a valance she loved, ordered it, and though she loves the style, the colors didn’t work with her kitchen. She found them at CountryCurtains.com

She went to the fabric store and found some rooster fabric which matches her kitchen, but she didn’t know anyone who could sew. She brought this up when she and I were talking, so I gave her one of my cards and told her I could do it.

She got the rest of the materials together and I found or figured out all the dimensions.

The original valance has fabric covered buttons. I had no idea they actually made a kit to be able to do them without fighting with the fabric over real buttons. So imagine my shock, and joy, over this kit! Also it did an excellent professional job. I am very happy with how they came out.

Here’s what I’ve come up with. 7.31.14.valance

I hope they’re everything she was looking for, and that they look great in her kitchen. It will add some dimension once they’re hung on rods above the windows.

I think I like that scalloped edge, I may make some for my own kitchen, in bears and horses, green and cream.
